When Someone Says "You Can't"

I had to write this poem for English, so since I worked hard on it, I figured, "Hey, it may not be that great, but I might at least share it." It's supposed to start with asking a question about how something feels, and then using similes or metaphors to explain the feeling. I know the last two lines don't really rhyme; I don't really care. I know it changes rythym. Guess what: I don't care again. So here it goes:

When Someone Says You Can't
When someone says "You'll never be able to do that" or "It can't be done,"
How does it feel to be told that the race you're running simply can't be run?
Is it like anticipating a missions trip, then breaking your leg?
Like being turned down for a scholarship no matter how hard you beg?
Like losing your voice right before the big choir solo in preformance?
The feeling you get in your gut when your mom is rushed away in an ambulance?
Having to come home and tell your wife you lost your job and you're in great debt?
When something went wrong with the pregnancy and both in the ground are set?
Waking up from a crash in which your best friend was killed and it's all your fault?
Is this the wrenching in your stomach you get when dreams come to a halt?
When you find yourself ending up in a prison cell charged with a murder,
When you think of suicide to escape the life that keeps getting harder.
When you realize all in your life depends on the drugs that are stealing it,
When you find out your husband's not staying legit.
When the Sword of the Spirit is not what you're yielding?
When your prayers don't seem to be flying past the ceiling?
When someone mercilessly, brutally, steals away
All that you have worked so hard for every single day?
When you feel that every hope is lost and you are through?
"Just give up; you'll never get to where you're going to."
You know that Jesus had a dream just like we all do,
He wanted to see you in heaven, for he loved you,
And his dream seemed impossible because of your sin,
So Jesus did the impossible to let you in.
Jesus was tempted to give up, just like we can be.
But don't give up; you will never know where he might lead.
